Why I love Byerly's

I've been knocked out of commission by a dreadful inflammation of the cartilage and bone in my chest wall (related to an upper respiratory infection I've been--apparently unsuccessfully--trying to get over)...Posting is going to be sporadic for a bit here.

That said, there is absolutely nothing more decadent than a ripe strawberry in February in Minnesota. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Another flower

I am on such a flower kick lately...well, that's really no surprise. I get severe cabin fever every year around this time. Want spring, want it!

My father-in-law (hi Scot!) and I were talking about this last week when we were all at the Conservatory. It was so beautiful and warm and tropical in there compared to the arid, cold, barren outside, and it felt so good, especially after being sick for the last few weeks with this upper respiratory crud. As we were going through the sunken garden I said something to him about, "Why do we live here, why, why." And he kind of laughed, but then said, "Maybe it's so that we can really appreciate the seasons, and things like this."

I think he might be on to something.

(But I still want spring.)

Valentine's night out

Took the kids and met up with my husband and his parents after work at the Conservatory in St. Paul. Children’s behavior was meh, the flowers were pretty. And there was a sloth! All-in-all, a good night. :)

Back in the land of the living

I'm better now. :)

Here, have a picture!

Edited--I swapped out the picture from frosted sage to the below, because 1) I'm just not in the mood for snow and ice, and 2) I really like this one. I've been experimenting with shutter speeds, aperture, ISO, all sorts of manual things...and I actually caught light! How cool is that?

(I don't expect that anyone else will like this one nearly as much as I do, but meh. My blog. Nyaaaaah.)

Daisy

This is not a good week--I've been sick since last Thursday with Teh Evil Crud, can't seem to shake it. What I wouldn't give for some warm weather and sun...!

Crikey, but it's cold out there!

Well, not that cold (17°F). But it SEEMS cold after the last month or so of March-like temps. Brrrrrr!

So here's some more blue skies and sunshine. Just because.

If we look disheveled and wind-blown and helmet-haired in this...it's because we were. We'd been biking all day. :) In fact, that was the day We Biked The Bridge. (And Sausalito, and the Embarcadero, and allllllllllllll the way up to Coit Tower...)

Not that I want to go to jail to get it, mind. But sun...sea...blue skies...sailboats...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

The world at 50mm

It is, I have discovered, exceedingly difficult to get a picture of a snowflake at dusk and during a snow shower.

But in this case the end completely justifies the means!

Kinda cool viewed large.

Low light conditions; tweaked the brightness & contrast for the sake of the snowflake, but it's otherwise untouched.
